Rev. Dr. John Denninger will be here on Sunday, August 13, preaching at 8:30 am & 11:00 am liturgical services. He will have a presentation on the "State of the District" at 10 am in the narthex; refreshments will be served.
The Rev. Dr. John Denninger was elected to his second term as Southeastern District President in May 2015. Prior to this position he served three other ministries: Trinity Lutheran Church, Auburn, NE; Campus Pastor, University of Nebraska – Kearney, NE; and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Springfield, VA. He is married to Connie, and together they have three daughters, all married, with four grandsons.

Reformation Art Contest - Celebrating the 500th Anniversary of the REFORMATION through Art! Contest is open to students AND Adults of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and School! All artwork needs to be submitted for judging no later than Sunday, October 8, 2017. Registration Entry Form must be submitted by September 1, 2017. Prizes will be awarded on Sunday, October 29 in the following age groups: Elementary (Grades 2-5); Middle School (Grades 6-8); High School (Grades 9-12); and Adult. If you've always wanted to memorize scripture, but have found it difficult, the Internet comes to the rescue. Memverse.com is a web based tool that lets you choose scriptures of interest and then guides you through the process of memorization. It's an amazingly powerful tool! The iNeighborhood Program is a program designed to identify who your neighbors are and how you can reach out to them. The current activity is to go door to door in Wilshire Park to invite our neighbors to participate in the activities of Emmanuel such as our Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas Cantata. After the first of the year we will identify activities at Emmanuel and invite our neighbors to participate. If interested in participating, please contact Ron Roby at 407-647-3559.

Linus Blankets, sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans are a group of folks who meet every 2nd Tuesday in the Fellowship Hall who make special blankets for children going through some form of crisis or tragedy, such as hospitalizations, accidents, fires, etc. They are VERY simple to make and are a lot of fun so come join us! Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts meet on Tuesday nights: Boy Scouts at 7:00 pm in the church narthex/lobby area, and Cub Scouts at 7:00 pm in the church Fellowship Hall. Boy Scouts, one of the traditional membership divisions of the BSA, is available to boys who have earned the Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old, or are 11 years old or have completed the 5th grade but not yet 18 years old. The program achieves the BSA's objective of developing character, citizenship, and personal fitness. For younger boys, we also have a Cub Scout troop. Adopt-A-College Student Program: Barbara Sullivan will be heading up this program to match members with Emmanuel's college students. Just send a note of encouragement to a college student every so often and let them know you are praying for them. The Mission and Outreach Singers were formed 12 years ago as an outreach ministry of Emmanuel. They go to area Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Facilities, Prisons and Shelters. Monthly visits to different facilities are scheduled where they share scripture, have prayer and pass out devotional booklets. Members find that while they go to be a blessing, they always come away feeling that they are the ones who were blessed. To find out more, contact Doug Greene at 658-2114.

We pray for those who are suffering, be it physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually, for members of our church, friends, neighbors, our community and for our nation. —Serving Dinner at the Steadfast House: This Ministry serves Women and Children who are coming out of abusive relationships. Every 3rd Wednesday of the month folks from Emmanuel serve an evening meal for these broken families.
